I have had the honor of working with Joshua over the years and he is a top notch creative visionary. He has the ability to articulate emotionally impactful scenes that resonate deeply with audiences leaving them touched, moved and inspired. I highly recommend his work and look forward to working with him again in the future. Do yourself a favor and read these plays. You will relate, laugh and enjoy the ride!
Although the "F*** You" play alone is worth the cost of the book, what I love most about it is seeing Joshua James' development as a writer. If you were to line each play up chronologically, you can see his growth as an artist.
But even in his earliest pieces, there is a sincerity and a freshness of perspective that characterize his work. He's always expressing something genuine yet never falls into equating truth with cynicism. Reading these plays you get a sense that you're getting to know Joshua James, and he seems like a fascinating person to get to know.

I ran across the Joshua James Project and fell in love with his work. I laughed out loud after reading requirement # 2 Don’t rewrite it or change the text. You want to improvise, join an improv group.
I have used his monologues when coaching several NYC actors and have still not gotten through all of the 44 plays. I bought an E copy and a hard copy. I love his contemporary voice with universal themes. I enjoy reading the production notes and history of the plays. Highly recommend this Project…pay it forward!

This is a gold-mine for young actors, developing companies, students - and a great idea. You get the talents of "Josh" James' writing to use copyright-free to do your production without contracts and hassles. Listen - I've been in several of Josh's plays early in my career, and they were always well attended, and well received. Don't let the language make you think acting this material is easy. You make it real - and you'll make it funny. And it will challenge you. Dare to do it right, and you will be rewarded. Fall into the stereotypes and fail. I think of Norman Mailer when I think of the language (think "Why Are We In Viet Nam" when a young soldier walks out of a rice paddy and says to his Captain "Man, I just took a righteous sh*t!" - and your near the visceral reality of Joshua James' writing). You get a lot in a single sentence. Buy this, read it, get a group of people together and make it work. You're lucky this playwright had the great idea to "open source" this material for the little productions that take place everywhere. - Cheers.
a great collection of powerful plays and easy to produce
I am not usually a playwright type of girl, but I must say I enjoyed this book very much. Each play is well written & flow nicely. They are I interesting, funny, & give the reader a fun break from everyday life. I have found one of my new favorite authors.
